Threadscape-Fxiii Embroidery Illustration Exhibition-
Fxiii
May 1 - May 26, 2024
”Threadscape” is a term coined by combining the words 'threads' (threads-) and 'landscape' (-scape), representing the materials used by Fxiii in her work, the spatial changes they create, and the narratives derived from visual images. Her creation manifests as a landscape unfolding over time, bridging the past to the present.
Fxiii captures the instantaneous movement and act of embroidery, as well as the process through which the applied thread traverses the surface of the fabric, eventually forming contours and patterns that lead to a narrative.
Lines have a truly rich meaning in her works. They represent not only figurative contours, colors, and patterns, but also the interweaving of systems that create time and space, interconnected relationships, and the emergence of new orders. Her learning background in theater design and technology as well as narrative environment has influenced the possibility to appreciate her works from different perspectives.
The “Plantbased" series, exhibited for the first time, was inspired by the term 'plant-based' and evokes the human condition of existing like a plant. The “In Between” series focuses on the changing distance from others and the world during the Covid-19 pandemic, expressing the unstable yet possible nature of human relationships and relationships with matters.
This exhibition presents Fxiii’s early and new works, along with a new attempt at an embroidered picture book. We hope you enjoy the moments captured within the threads and the stories woven into them, akin to gazing at a landscape.
